Why do not Jehovah's Witnesses are allowed to practice yoga?

So I asked my mom to accompany me to a class complimentary yoga from this study that just opened by my house. I was completely terrified by the idea and reproached me something along the lines of "how could make such things in the light of my knowledge of the Bible and Christian education that gave me. "I was a little confusing, even when I was a Jehovah's Witness I never heard that he could not practice yoga. Now that you do not attend and do not consider myself religious, Christian or whatever, I think it's even sillier things that the organization occurs to him to keep people in place. But in all sincerity and without insult envisaged, can anyone tell me why is abhorrent to God's eyes ?????

Hi Gabby, You've received some good answers already, but thought I would add two pennies on the value of my too … As with many activities such as yoga, tai chi, karate, etc. are negotiable with the physical benefits that can be experienced. However, in most cases, the more you begin to attend more than knowing that your instructor physical experience is mixed with a spiritual experience. Of course, there are some teachers who do not do this, but many do. People who are monotheistic religions (Jews, Christians, Muslims) all believe that you should worship one God and to seek only in spirit. The spiritual aspects of tai chi, yoga, karate and others encourage connect with "God" in the way of Eastern mysticism, which generally include the efforts of man to become a part of something deeper, something spiritual, more potent than natural. In general, the thrust of these meditations is empty of everything yourself than you are to connect with this raw power. This goes against Christian, Jewish and Islamic meditation which involves setting aside oneself to connect with God. What you're looking for is not power that can be manipulate and control, but you are looking for someone older than you can serve. I know these two things seem very similar, but the reality of the experience is very different and are These spiritual aspects sincere follower of a monotheistic religion to avoid. Have a read of the wiki article on yoga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoga and see that it is closely linked to the Hindu philosophies that go directly against Christian, Jewish and Islamic faith. You can, of course, find instructors who teach physical aspects of such practices without any interest in the spiritual aspects and should not be a small problem with the performance of exercises to do exercise love (although some still disagree with this too). We know that the stretching exercises of yoga can be good for you and science has demonstrated These exercises have an emotional benefit as well as the physical benefits that help relieve stress, anxiety and other negative feelings such. Personally, I participated in Tae-Kwon Do for a long time (less recently). The instructor that I was brought up under stress the physical aspects of the sport and did not consider spiritual. The patterns are made in this martial art was not intended to worship ancestors or mysticism but they were more intended to instruct the soldiers for whom art was invented in the history of the Korean nation. So you can participate in ATK without any problems. However, I have also met with instructors that combine spiritual exercises TKD aims to connect with a deeper power. These are the instructors I have avoided as a Christian, as it was the exercise that was looking rather the spiritual exercise. I know there are yoga instructors who are Christians and not to combine philosophy with exercise, but that divide the two and if they do anything to try to combine Christian meditation with exercise in place of Hindu meditation. If you want to do yoga with your mom would probably have to look for one of these trainers and have the instructor explains how philosophy is separated from the exercise … But even then might not be interested because they might want to jeopardize their witness to their Jehovah's Witness congregation … I hope this helps to explain why she would not be interested in yoga however … There is always combined with Hindu philosophy, but can also be a Christian and so would have to be sure of the separation before he became interested in the potential physical and emotional benefits of it.
