Good yoga teachers are highly respected in the U.S., but most of them are disciples of other known and have a degree in Yoga, so I would suggest you decide where to go, and then research on what makes a teacher popular in that country. I than simply being a native of India would be a great advantage … rather than a degree from a university. Universities are seen as a Western phenomenon, and not a part of culture ancient Indian. That can not be what they wanted to hear, but I hope that the information is of help to you. Not much money in that profession, unless you become a top of the well-known professor. If I were you, I do yoga for their own welfare, and you can sell your employer on their health of mind and body. Now, that would be a great asset for any employer.
